I mentioned in a blog post a while back that I was going to try and become a 'gym bunny'. I was never going to be a 'gym bunny', but I actually went yesterday and I even invested in a personal trainer to start me off.
After getting over the embarrassment of walking in the gym and feeling like my choice of a band tshirt and leggings didn't quite match up to the lycra designer gear everyone else was wearing, I joined my trainer in the weight room and I squatted for my life. I will have lovely toned legs I could hear myself saying, while the Personal Trainer laughed at my enthusiasm.
3 years ago I was over 13 1/2 stone, and not really loving life. I moaned I hated my body, and then I went and drank juices or poured chilli on my food, all because a z list celebrity swore that helped them shed the pounds. It didn't work, and I ended up stuffing my face with chocolate and crisps once the ordeal was over. I then discovered Weightwatchers, and for those who don't know much about it the idea is to work on a point system. I first started by carrying a book around with me, which was so annoying and made me embarrassed, but then I invested in the app and my life was changed. I documented everything I ate and drank, and I started losing weight on my chart in the weigh ins. I am now just over 11 stone, and much happier.
Weightwatchers has made me aware of what I eat, and more importantly I now weigh out my portion sizes. That is my main tip ladies and gents, WEIGH! A bowl full to the brim of porridge made me feel healthy because it wasn't coco pops, but when I discovered I should be eating 30g as a substantial portion size I was full without feeling bloated. I now weigh out my pasta, cereal, cheese, and a teaspoon of sauce is plenty. Forget squirting your tomato ketchup until a quarter of your plate is a red lake for dunking your over chips, but instead a teaspoon is plenty for what you need and will save you 60 calories. Try changing that 4 chocolate digestives you have on your tea break at work, for a 99 calorie chocolate bar that will ensure you have your fix but without over indulging.

It is now 3 months until I get married, and I need a bit of a kick start into getting rid of these bingo wings. Now, I don't believe 4 months of going to the gym 3 times a week will make a huge difference, however I do believe I will feel happier.
I have also bought a measuring tape, so that I can put my measurements on here so you can see the progress.
I will keep you posted. LJ xxx
When I did a lot of running, I also said to myself that I would never become a gym bunny but after lifting some weights, I fell in love with strength training. All the luck to you, you'll look fab at your wedding! x
