I am now getting used to having Saturday's off. After 7 years of only 4 precious weekends off a year, I am loving the opportunity to spend time with those I didn't get to see very much. Instagram now actually has the inclusion of "Its Friday" and some balloons and trumpets as an image. I certainly jumped on the bandwagon with that one.
I try and see my mum at least once a week, and it often involves cake and tea. In that order. Sometimes cake and cake.
Today we went to one of our favourites, The Milk Shed in Weston-on-the-green in Oxfordshire. It is on a beautiful farm, and also has a great camp site which is often full of awesome camper vans.
It is always really busy, and today it was even busier which highlights how fashionable it has become. We were lucky to get a nice table by the window as soon as we arrived, but some families waited quite a lot longer so I would arrive getting there earlier if you are pushed for time as their brunch is really popular.
After much deliberation, which is normal for us, we had some tea and coffee and a bacon sandwich on sour dough bread. It was lovely, and the bacon was perfectly cooked, and nice and crispy. I love sour dough bread, and was very happy with how the sandwich was presented and cooked. Simplicity at its best.
We also shared an apple and blackberry crumble cake, and we it was just the right amount for both of us.
I am a bit of a regular here, and particular with my beautiful mummy friends as we can easily manoeuvre buggies there. The Milk Shed has a lovely atmosphere, and there was a lovely younger lad working there who I think had all the women saying "how cute he was". He couldn't do enough for everyone, and I certainly commented on how awesome he was to the rest of the team.
