Met Ball 2015

Last Night New York welcomed The Met Ball 2015, and along with that came an abundance of stars and celebrities who successful, or not very successfully, encompassing the theme of "China: Through the Looking Glass".

This is my best dressed, and worst dressed from the fabulous event.

Karen Elson
I am not a massive fan of her style, and this Dolce and Gabbana dress didn't suit her skin tone. The red skirt looked like it was part of the red carpet, and the gold wasn't complimentary to her gorgeous hair and beautifully fair complexion. I like how bold it was, and it was certainly striking, but I feel colour choices were wrong for her.

Jennifer Lawrence
I love Jennifers style, and she does casual really well too. She wowed in this Dior Haute Couture dress, and it looked effortless with her hair styled this way. I love the detailing around the neckline, and I think the design flatters her figure and size. A big thumbs up from me!

Rihanna
I love how bold this look is, and I love that fact that she always thinks outside the box however I cant help but see a fluffy canary walking down the red carpet. I think this Guo Pei dress doesn't flatter her, and her cleavage looks uncomfortable. The material looks heavy, and I cant help but feel she looks awkward. I do love the hair accessory, and I think it looks beautiful against her hair colour. Just a shame the dress isn't as beautiful and intricate

Sarah Jessica Parker
A firm favourite in the style stakes, and she always gets it right. Okay as a massive Sex in the City fan I might be bias, but she just seems to push the boundaries but always look fabulous. She wore a beautiful H&M dress and accessorised with jewellery and a show stopping head piece. I love everything about this look, and I think she encompasses the theme of The Ball this year. She truly is the queen of style!

Alicia Keyes
I would never think of Alicia Keyes as a well dressed fashionista, as I struggle to forget her in her somew   . Alicia wore Jean Paul Gaultier, and she looked like a princess. I absolutely love the jacket, and think it contrasts the skirt perfectly. Her hair compliments the look wonderfully, however I am not sure the heavy makeup is a great choice for the whole ensemble. Perhaps, something more simple with a bold lip would have been better, but Alicia did good!

Beyoncé and Solange
I woke up this morning to Instagram posts and Facebook comments about Beyoncé and how awesome she looked. She really has got it going on, and you cant argue that she looks great in everything she wears. Even back in the Destiny's Child days I cant critique her style. Her body looked fabulous in this sparkly number from Givenchy, and some might argue the best was certainly saved until last.

Solange didn't do so well, and her Giles Deacon dress was a little too far. It was over the top, but not in a glam way. She certainly looked uncomfortable, with her looking more like an LP than a Chinese Princess. Poor choice from Solange, who unfortunately got predictably upstaged by her sister.

A great start to the day was looking through all the beautiful dresses this morning, and now I will wait another year to do the same. Unfortunately, my jeans and tshirt this morning don't have quite the same glamour.

  1. I loved Beyonce's look as well, very glam and flattering. Not a huge fan of Solange's, but it was unique and did stand out. x
