Lonely The Brave - Wow!

My job leads me to specialise in fashion and hair however my recent trip to see Lonely The Brave has led me to embrace a slightly different blog entry - a gig review!

On Wednesday night I ventured with my husband (still love saying that) up to Birmingham for a gig that was outstanding in every way. I purchased the tickets while on honeymoon in September and I remember sitting on the bed in Pismo Beach excitedly booking our tickets on the rather awful WiFi they had. This week the date finally came around.

After a rather epic Five Guys (I still am not of of the craze yet) we spent rather a long time finding the O2 Academy. It really is a bit  of a trek and I miss the days when I rocked out in the old Academy at the age of 18.

Ella Eyre was also playing at the venue so there were lots of people gathered around as made our way up to the smaller Academy room. It was a really intimate gig and you could immediately sense that everyone had the same amount of excitement as I did. Having been to lots of music events this one definitely had a different feel.

We were able to make our way near the front and after a emotive smoke and light display the 5 piece made their way on stage. Introducing Gavin (drums), Ross and Mark (Guitar), Andrew (bass) and David (singer).

It was an immense set list with everyone involving themselves in the lyrics with an audience ranging all ages. It was so lovely seeing fathers and mothers with their children - all enjoying the music.

I unfortunately missed this band at Reading festival this year - as they day they took the stage we were rushing out of the guest camping area trying to make our way to our honeymoon. I was gutted but this fully made up for it.

If you haven't heard about David on stage before then I honestly cannot convey how endearing he really is. I found myself completely warmed by his ability to sing with such strength and feeling but yet he hid himself behind the guitarists at the front. It became about his voice and not about him as a persona - well so he thought. I was captivated and it made the lyrics I have come to love even more beautiful. Although he did not look at us his intensity was clear and it is obvious how well this band work together.

They came and met their fans afterwards and they were very patient in photograph requests. Many had watched at least 3 dates they had done already this year and I felt such a sense of love towards them as a band.

I would urge anyone to go and see them if you get the chance - you will definitely be completely enchanted.

10 out of 10!

Has anyone else been lucky enough to see them?
