Natural Collection Tinted Moisturiser

Since Autumn last year I have been really struggling with dry skin, and I decided that my makeup was too heavy and it was drying everything out.

My mum is a makeup artist, and works with upcoming MUAs so I asked her advice and she suggested a tinted moisturiser.

Getting married tends to mean saving money is priority, so I decided to invest in some Tinted Moisturiser from Natural Collection.

£1.99 later and I had a tube full of the stuff in Beige.

I honestly didn't think I would be converted. I love my heavy look makeup, and I have been a regular user of Double Wear by Estee Lauder, and Studio Fix by MAC. I definitely wasn't up for having anything else in my kit, but it really is ace.

I use one squeeze of it everyday, and it gives me such a nice look all day. It doesn't look cakey, and it certainly leaves my skin looking soft and dewy.

Boots have a special offer at the moment where all Natural Collection products are £1.99 so go grab yourself a bargain. This is definitely going to be my new fave, and it certainly will be perfect for honeymoon heat.

PRO Hair Live

On Monday I got to go to fabulous PRO Hair Live show in London. After managing to navigate my way around the transport system of London underground and overground ... not too successfully ... I made it to Olympia. I did begin my underground journey all by myself at the tube station. Bought back memories of the film Creep,  not the best film to be thinking of when it is you and a dark tunnel.

The show was a great opportunity to see some of the brands in the industry at the moment, including some that are up and coming.

I arrived to see our very own President Bruno Marc on stage with his team from Marc Antoni. It was a great show, and the Art Team gave a wonderful presentation of their looks and were incredibly confident on stage.

After several cups of coffee and a few meetings later, I watched one of our teams take to the stage.

It was a great show! The ClubStar Art Team demonstrated some fantastic skills and expertise, with beautiful texture and fab use of chains, padding and plaiting. The Team closed the PRO Hair Live Stage, and it was a great finish. The clothes were show stopping, and reflected the hair perfectly.

It was also great to hear about the journey The Team have had, and the educational progression they have made from the events.

Was a fantastic show, and looking forward to the next one!

Glamour and Industry Pro's

On Monday 20th April, I got to go to the glamorous 8 Northumberland Venue in London for The Fellowships prestigious Presidents Night.

I was slightly nervous at the prospect of meeting some amazing industry professionals all in one place, but it was fantastic! I loved every minute of it.

I wore a beautiful dress from Asos, and my hair was curled and pinned up. As it was my first event, I went for black with an accent of colour in a green bag. Lots of photos were taken of me, so I am glad I went glam!

The evening started with a drinks reception, where I was introduced to some wonderful talented individuals from the hairdressing world. Over a glass of champagne we discussed the progression of the industry talent, and I hopefully wowed them with my confidence (hidden nerves)

We were then called to dinner, where we were treated to a beautiful 3 course dinner. I was sat among some fabulous ladies and gents from the Press world, and I really enjoyed getting to know the different aspects of the trade press.

Errol Douglas MBE is an amazing hairdresser, and I feel a bit star struck to be working alongside him. His 2 years term as President has come to an end, and he certainly went out with a bang. We were treated to a catwalk show that "celebrated beauty through the decades", and we were certainly wowed. It was incredible! The hair, makeup, styling and choreography captured everyone, and I had to refrain myself from dancing down the centre of the room with them. I certainly wouldn't have got the walk as perfect as them ... or in fact the look.

The Fellowship now has a fab new President in Bruno Marc, from Marc Antoni. He made a hilarious speech, which was a true reflection of his personality. The crowd were upstanding for both him and Errol.

I loved every minute of the event! Can't wait for my next glamorous night.

My First Event

Last week, I had the fabulous opportunity to attend my first event in my new position as PR and Marketing Manager.

I ventured down to London, and arrived at The Wella Studios just behind the infamous Oxford Street. After discussing, at great length, with the wonderful Front of House staff the joys of the sunshine and the disappointment that I too cant wear mini skirts, I made sure I had a large cup of coffee. Mainly to steady my nerves.

I then graced the big auditorium, where I could hear the fabulous preparation happening for the educational evening of hair and catwalk presence with Marc Antoni.

Having attended Wella in the past for colour theory, it was strange being there for a completely different role, but so much more fabulous!

I was directed to my seat at the front, and being the fog horn that I am I introduced myself rather loudly to the photographer.

It was time to begin ...

The show had a large audience, and we were educated on some fantastic cuts and colours. Our very own F.A.M.E. Team member, Lucy Tuck, was a fab host and introduced some beautiful metallic finished colours and some spectacular blondes. The rest of the team showed some amazing hairups, these were avante garde looks that embarrassingly left me with my mouth open and eyes completely focused on how they were going to finish the look.

I left the evening to sunshine! I know at 8.45pm there was still some sunshine, and then I finished the evening writing up my Press Release on the train. I couldn't help but smile as I did, a little bit because the lady opposite commented on my beautifully neat writing, but mainly because the event was awesome.

New Beginnings

After 7 years in a fabulous job, working with fabulous people, I made the move to change career and I couldn't be happier.

A job centred around hair, with PR and Marketing offering me the opportunity to visit some fabulous events and meet some talented individuals. Fast paced, action packed and very glamorous! Who knows how I fell into this job, but I certainly wouldn't look back.

After much deliberation, I realised that it was time to invest some of my writing abilities into a Blog, and to share my journey with others. With a wedding coming up, and a new exciting job it was too hard keeping everything to myself ... so meet Days of LJ. An update and an insight into my life, and how I just about manage to not fall over; not set the house on fire when baking; and how I have officially mastered the art of the hill start after 8 years of driving.

And so my blogging journey begins ...
